San Antonio & the Woodlands, TX (June 2, 2014) – Calvetti Ferguson, one of Houston’s fastest-growing energy accounting firms, will open new offices in the Woodlands and San Antonio to keep pace with the ongoing domestic shale boom.
Jason Ferguson, Calvetti Ferguson managing partner, said the Woodlands office is needed to keep pace with the growing energy sector just north of Houston, while the San Antonio area is clamoring for accounting services with everything going on in the Eagle Ford shale.
Ferguson said the firm is tentatively planning to open offices next year in Dallas and Denver to meet the needs of energy companies in those areas. “Those are the next oil and gas hubs. That’s where we’re headed,” he said, noting that the firm’s moves represent a growing trend for professional services firms.
While the Woodlands office, located in Hughes Landing, is not set to formally open until Dec. 1, Ferguson said the new San Antonio office is open as of June 2 with a skeleton staff that should grow to 25 people within three years.
Calvetti Ferguson is ranked as the 24th largest accounting firm in the Houston area with about 50 employees in the city, according to Houston Business Journal research.
Ferguson said he expects the Woodlands office to quickly grow to about 25 employees there in 18 months.
“The Woodlands is becoming more and more its own economic center with the businesses that are moving there and Exxon Mobil drawing business there,” Ferguson said.
“There’s an oil and gas concentration that’s opening up within the Woodlands,” he said. “they don’t have to go all the way downtown (for their accounting needs).”
As for the newly opened office, Ferguson said he knew San Antonio was a good opportunity, but that he realized the energy sector was “starving” for accounting services and other ancillary needs after meeting with potential clients.
“They don’t have a lot of expertise in the professional services around oil and gas,” he said.
